An excellent dress watch---Panerai PAM 98 Radiomir GMT Alarm

Known for their over-sized, yet refined case design, Panerai likes the most powerful “cult following” from any watch brand presently currently available. Founded in 1860, Panerai watches were initially produced for the Italian Naval forces. Remaining in keeping with form, Panerai has accepted their original designs and produced a loyal group of followers of “Paneristi’s” along the way these fans appreciate and therefore are attracted towards the durable yet simple elegance of those watches.

Because of their limited production, Panerai is the most exclusive watch brands currently available and usually receive very small discount rates. Many of the pieces really cost over retail price because of their short supply and demand.

The watch is 42mm stainless steel case with a see through sapphire crystal case back. The black dial is with luminescent hour markers and numerals. With the rotatable inner bezel, which act as a useful Am/Pm indicator. This watch also features a GMT window at the six o'clock position. With Officine Panerai brown crocodile skin strap, which is slightly used, on an Officine Panerai stainless steel double-folding clasp.

The movement is automatic mechanical, Panerai OP XII calibre, 13? lignes and 27 jewels. It has the C?tes de Genève decoration around the bridges. PANERAI personalized oscillating weight. Glucydur balance is 28,800 alternations per hour. The watch is incabloc anti-shock device. Power reserve is 46 hours. It is approved by chronometer Certificate (C.O.S.C.). Functions: hours, minutes, small seconds, chronograph with two counters, tachymeter scale.

This can be a model we've been lucky enough to stumbled upon a handful of occasions previously, however it remains an uncommon piece, with simply 3000 total pieces made between 2001 and 2006. The Panerai Radiomir GMT Alarm includes a Girard Perregaux caliber 59, a movement initially produced by A. Schild (AS 5008).

This vintage movement was reworked by Girard Perregaux and I believe is nearly symbolic of mechanical alarm watches. It creates a noisy and distinctive buzzing seem once the alarm is engaged. This piece was lately maintained having a full overhaul through the Panerai Richemont service center, so it's in perfect condition. It's really a brand new version of the PAM98 which goes back to 2001. That watch had an automatic Girard-Perregaux caliber. It is an excellent dress watch.
