100th Anniversary Chronograph---Seiko Ananta

The Seiko began in 1881, created its first pocke twatches in 1895, its first travel alarm clocks in 1899, and it is first wrist watches in 1913. This means that 2013 marked a century of Seiko wrist watches, and also the Japanese company marked the milestone having a special form of its Seiko Ananta Chronograph.

From Seiko’s official pr release: “Ananta includes two wealthy traditions. Honed over a century, Seiko’s the watch-making industry abilities are fused using the cultural good reputation for Japan to produce a collection that's both unmistakably Seiko and distinctively Japanese.

The case and bracelet are stainless steel with hard blue coating, the size is 42.8 mm and thickness is 14.2mm, the watch is with sapphire crystal with Super-clear coating, the water-resistant is to 100 meters and magnetic resistance is to 4,800 A/m. On the stainless steel bracelet, there are three-fold clasp with push-button release.

The dial of the new chronograph is an ideal expression of Seiko’s persistence for ultimate refinement and innovation. Isshu Tamura, a noted artist and expert within the Kaga Makie type of lacquer, offers each dial by hand but it's the colors which make this watch unique. The dial is a deep blue, one nothing you've seen prior accomplished with lacquer also it brings up the richness of the evening sky, by which the crescent moon, also colored in lacquer, stands out vibrantly. The result is stunning a mix of power and tranquility that's the right visual metaphor for that highly varied existence of Masamune Date.

The movement is seiko Caliber 8R28, automatic, it is 12-hour chronograph with column wheel and vertical clutch, the frequency is 28,800 vph, it has 34 jewels and the power reserve is 45 hours.

Inside this new Ananta creation beats Seiko’s mechanical chronograph caliber 8R28. It, obviously, includes a column wheel and vertical clutch i465 black for precise operation as well as includes Seiko’s unique three-point hammer, which guarantees the right synchronization of the hands’ fly-back. The wonder of the color around the dial is perfectly visible, because of Seiko’s proprietary anti-reflective coating which removes 99% of sunshine reflection, even just in vibrant sunlight.

The Ananta chronograph is provided inside a limited edition of 300, each using its own serial number engraved around the caseback. It's part of the Seiko 100th anniversary collection, which remembers the centenary of Seiko’s very first watch, the Laurel, produced in 1913.”
